There is an old quarry just outside of town that belonged to the Rockford Brick and Tile Company. It is now part of the Floyd County Fossil and Prairie Park Preserve. I've wanted to get out there and practice panoramic shots and finally had time and good weather yesterday.
This image is two rows of 10 images each merged in Lightroom. I then took the image into Photoshop to edit. I cloned out some power poles and lines and adjusted the exposure in specific areas using layer masks. Some final dodging and burning and I'm pretty happy with the results.
Don't forget to include foreground in the your images! I shot some great sets but this was the only one that really included foreground and looked complete. The others just seemed to be lacking something.
Remember to preview your images once in a while! It can save a lot of time and hassle if you figure out early on that your exposure needs to be adjusted!
All in all it was a good day shooting. I walked away with the great image you see above as well as some great texture and abstract shots of the dried mud, rocks, and animal prints.
